Dear Parents/Guardians
We have managed to resume school for term 2 after enduring yet another lockdown. During lockdown we sent work home to students via Email and WhatsApp. Students were also encouraged to revise for their exams. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these trying times.
Covid 19
We disinfected the school before opening and we were inspected by The Council Health Team. MOBE also came by to check on our records.
We are aware that cases of Covid 19 are increasing and spreading to other parts of the country. We will remain as vigilant as possible. We are in communication with the Covid team.
We held a short meeting with school transporters where we reminded them of Covid 19 prevention measures. We were impressed by their willingness to work with us. We urge parents/guardians to encourage their children to stay at home as much as possible and restrict their movement. Visitors(including parents) to Crescent are NOT allowed to go beyond the blue palisade fence. Please limit your visits to the administration block. You can call or email us for assistance.
All our Covid 19 protocols still apply.
Examinations
All classes have started end of term examinations. Both Std.7s and Form 4s are writing Mock Exams. Std 7s are sitting for a National PSLE Mock Exams with the rest of the country. Reports will be issued early next term. They will be sent home with students.
School Calendar
Please see the reverse of this newsletter for yet another revised calendar for 2020. Please note that the calendar changes may occur, but you will be notified in advance. We lost a number of teaching days this term and as a result we have shortened the vacation and extended our closing dates for Secondary. Term 2 will end on Friday 28 August 2020 at 1230 and we will take a 2 day short vacation. We will return to school on Wednesday 2 September. Covid protocols will start at 0645 for all classes including reception classes to std 3 since the weather has warmed up and we are heading for summer. Classes start at 0715. Secondary and Std.7 will dismiss at 1515, Std 1 to 6 at 1330 and reception classes at 1230.
Please ensure transporters collect students on time to avoid crowding.
Car Park Rules
Drivers should please observe the road markings in the car park. There is a designated area for Combis with red parking lanes. These are for Combis only. Please do not parallel park in the diagonal parking spaces on the left. Please drive slowly as there are lots of children crossing during dismissal time.
Accounts Office
During the short vacation the administration office will be closed, but the accounts office will be functioning.
Std 7 Study Skills Workshop
On Saturday 25 July our std. 7s had a workshop called BRAIN TRAINING DAY. They learnt new study skills using games and activities. The aim is to strengthen their cogitative skills and develop their higher order thinking. We hope that this will help them with their final exams .Thank you to Camp Botswana for coming to Crescent to do this and thank you to Parents for supporting your child.
School Art
In an effort to curb graffiti in our school and show the positive message that street art can portray, Mr. Nath has decorated the Secondary stairways with art depicting topical themes for 2020 such as Covid 19, Climate Change and the killing of George Floyd. All of these events seem to be shaping this extraordinary year. Thank you, Mr Nath, for the art.
